Waterfalls in Hawaii are one of Susan Szabo's favorite subjects to paint. She is attracted to the pure nature of water, its symbolism for life and the vibrancy of colors around waterfalls - especially here in Hawaii. Akaka Falls, on the Big Island of Hawaii, is especially meaningful to Susan, because of its splendor.
The beautiful, natural setting surrounding these falls and the dynamic, luxurious shape of the falling water presents a vision of perfect balance. This imagery carries with it a certain intrigue about the destiny of the water and is a strong example of the endless cycles in nature. All of this led to Susan's choice of the title for this painting: "Destiny".
